Artist Statement

Portrait Drawing!

       My artwork represents a face of a girl. The subject matter for this piece is a girl staring. Title of my artwork is called The  Lady. The elements and principles that are most obvious in my artwork is line, value, and texture.  

       The media I used for my artwork is pencil. Tools I used is shading from light to dark to get a greater value from the face, Hair, and the eyes. I also used texture to make the hair look realistic.

       My classmates inspired my artwork. My art piece shows a social issue. The Emotions I show in my artwork shows that the lady is shy and she wants to communicate with people but she's always quiet and she stares alot. 

       My goals as an artist is to learn more about art and for me to practice more in shading and value. Yes, this piece did help me with my goal because my shading and value had gotten better on this portrait.

       In this artwork, I learned how to shade from light to dark smoothly so that it can look realistic. Yes, this final piece is what I imagined because the shading in the hair and the face looks better than before than my other drawings that I have made so far. This piece will influence the shadings and values that I will make in my future artworks. 

Oil Pastel!

       My artwork is a girl on a swing. The subject matter is The Girl on a swing. Title of my work is called The Girl on a swing. The elements and principles that are most obvious in my art are color, texture, and shape. 

      The media I used for my artwork is Oil pastels. The tools and techniques I used is by mixing the oil pastel together to make the colors have a good color.  

       My classmates inspired my artwork. My work expresses a personal issue. The emotions I'm showing in this painting is loneliness, peace, and joy. 

       My goals as an artist is to grow into doing better with drawing oil pastels and to practice more with using the colors to blend in with the other colors. It didn't really help me that much because all I did was to just color and blend in the oil pastels like I'm just like coloring in crayon.

       I didn't really learn that much but to blend in the colors to make it look smooth and realistic. Yes, this piece is what I have imagined because how I drew the girl, hair, and the dress looks nice how I wanted it to be with the pastels.

        

WaterColor!

       My art work looks like a mountain. My subject matter is watercolor. The title of this piece is called The Great Mountains. The elements and principles that are obvious in this art is color. 

      The media I used is paint and water. The tools and techniques that I made in this artwork is by using paint and water to make the paint blend in the water to make the color have a nice cool looking figure. 

      My classmates inspired my artwork. My art expresses a personal issue. The emotions I showed in this watercolor painting are peace, happy, and joy.

      My goals as an artist is to draw different pictures and to practice painting to become better in the future. Yes, it helped me reached my goal because I learned how to blend in watercolors to make it have a nice color in the background. 

      I learned how to mixed and blend the watercolor with paint. This piece wasn't I finally imagined because the mountains I wanted to look realistic but it didn't look realistic. So I'll try to fix my mistakes and make my drawings look better in the future. 

Master Style's Painting!

       My artwork is a rose. The Subject matter for this piece is a reddish pink rose. Title of my artwork is called The Sorrow Rose. The elements and principles that are most obvious in my artwork are color, texture, line, shape, and form. 

       The media that I used for my artwork is paint. The tools and techniques that I used for my art piece is that I mixed white and red paint to make pink then I used the pink to mix with the red to make the peddles look darker on the flower. Then I mixed red, white, and black for the background to make it look like a nicer darker color in the background.

       My teacher and classmates Inspired my artwork. My work shows a personal issue. Emotions that i'm trying to show in this painting is sadness, Love, Pain, Sorrow, and War. 

        My goals as an artist is for me to focus on blending the paint with different colors more and for me to practice more with mixing colors. Yes, this piece has helped me reach my goal because all the blending and mixing colors that I did on this artwork looks great and the value and texture of the paint looks nice on the rose.

         I learned how to used different techniques with the colors and blending them colors nice and smooth with the brush. Yes this is the piece that I have imagined because the rose color I wanted turned out nice and the background I wanted to look dark looked nice too. This piece will influence the textures and colors on my future artworks.

Cross Contour

     My artwork is a peace hand sign. The subject matter is a hand sign. The title of my work is called peace. The elements and principles that are most obvious in my art are line, value, texture, and form. 

     The media I used for my artwork is a sharpee. The tools and techniques I drew were lines and zigzag lines. 

     My classmates inspired my art work. My work expresses a social issue. Emotions I try to show in this drawing are peace and freedom. 

     My goal is to make my drawings look a little better on the value and texture of the drawing. This drawing did help me reach my goal because the texture of this peace sign looked better than before.

      I learned how to use a sharpee to draw from light to dark on the fingers to make the fingers look 3D. It wasn't I imagined because the peace sign looks like a cartoon and I wanted the hand to look realistic.

Collage!

      My art work is a model. The subject matter I used is Newspaper. The title of my art is called The Model. The elements and principles that are most obvious in my artwork are texture, form, and shape.

      The media I used for my artwork is made from Newspaper. The tools and techniques I used for my artwork is by using different pieces of newspaper to make the model look more creative and have different shapes in the background. 

       My teacher inspired my artwork. My work expresses a personal issue. Emotions I showed in this artwork are peace and anger.
